Income Disclosure

In the United States, if your website features affiliate links, you are required by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to disclose this. The FTC guidelines tell us that the affiliate disclosure needs to be “conspicuous” on your website. In other words, it should be somewhere the readers are sure to see them. The start of your content (the top of the blog post, the beginning of the YouTube video, etc.), or as close as possible to the affiliate link itself, is usually a safe bet. Burying it in fine print at the bottom of your website probably isn’t going to cut it.

The disclosure should also be very visible, meaning the font must be big enough and prominent enough to be easily readable.

The affiliate disclosure also has to be “clear” according to the FTC. The reader must be able to understand that you will earn a commission when they buy through your link. This means you shouldn’t assume the reader knows what an affiliate link is or how an affiliate program works.

With this in mind, please be aware of that many of the products featured on our website are from our partners who compensate us. This may influence which products we write about and where and how the product appears on the page. However, this does not appear our evaluations. Our opinions are our own.  When you buy through links on our website, we may earn an affiliate commission. This keeps our website free of ads or sponsorships. We appreciate your support.
